Who are we ?

Our Abbey belongs to the Order of Citeaux (Common Observance). It is situated 7 kms from Fribourg (Switzerland). Built on a meander of the Sarine (river) it occupies a typically enchantress Cistercian site, where nature realises a happy harmony between water, vegetation and stone.

The Cistercian Order was founded in 1098 in a uncultivated solitude in Burgundy, called Cîteaux (from which is derived the adjective ''Cistercian'').
